I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, explain my role in your upcoming procedure, and ensure you are aware of the associated fees for my service.

My name is Shashi Kala Shrestha, and I am a Perioperative Nurse Surgical Assistant—an advanced practice Registered Nurse. Dr. Talat Uppal requires a surgical assistant to help ensure your procedure is performed efficiently and safely.

As a surgical assistant, my role includes but is not limited to safe patient positioning, assisting with surgical exposure and visibility, controlling bleeding (haemostasis), wound closure, catheterisation, and dressing application. I am also available to take your calls after surgery should you have any concerns.

I may not have the opportunity to meet you before your procedure, so I hope this letter provides the necessary information in case we do not connect pre-operatively.

There is a fee for my service, determined by your surgeon, which is typically approximately 20% of the surgical fees. In most cases, this ranges between $300 – $500, though complex or lengthy procedures may exceed this amount. Please note that this fee is an out-of-pocket expense and is not refundable by Medicare or private health insurance.
